Artificial Intelligence Policy

PsyMotion: Journal of Sport Psychology and Movement Science recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence tools in academic writing, research support, and scholarly communication. This policy provides guidance for the ethical and transparent use of AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation and publication.

AI

Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors may use AI-assisted tools to support language editing, grammar checking, formatting, or idea organization. However, AI tools must not replace the intellectual responsibility, originality, analysis, interpretation, or accountability of human authors.

01

Transparency

Authors should disclose the use of AI tools when such tools significantly contribute to manuscript preparation.

02

Accountability

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, and integrity of the submitted manuscript.

03

Ethical Use

AI tools must not be used to fabricate data, manipulate findings, generate false citations, or misrepresent research results.

Permitted Use of AI Tools

The journal permits limited and responsible use of artificial intelligence tools when they support the technical preparation of a manuscript without replacing the author’s intellectual contribution.

Language editing and grammar improvement

Manuscript formatting and readability enhancement

Assistance in organizing ideas or outlines

Technical support for reference formatting, when verified by authors

Prohibited Use of AI Tools

Data Fabrication

AI tools must not be used to create false research data, results, tables, figures, or experimental records.

False References

AI-generated references, citations, or sources must not be included unless they are manually verified as accurate and real.

Authorship Replacement

AI tools cannot be listed as authors and cannot replace the responsibility of human authors.

Misleading Claims

AI tools must not be used to manipulate interpretation, exaggerate findings, or misrepresent research conclusions.

Author Responsibilities

1

Verify All AI-Assisted Content

Authors must carefully review and verify any content produced or assisted by AI tools before submission.

2

Ensure Originality

Authors must ensure that AI-assisted writing does not result in plagiarism, copyright violation, or duplicate content.

3

Disclose Significant AI Use

Authors should disclose the use of AI tools when such tools substantially influence the writing, analysis, or preparation of the manuscript.

4

Maintain Full Accountability

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, ethical compliance, and scholarly integrity of the submitted manuscript.

AI Disclosure Statement

When AI tools are used substantially in manuscript preparation, authors should include a disclosure statement in the manuscript. The statement should mention the name of the AI tool, the purpose of use, and the extent of its contribution.

Example 1: Language Editing

The authors used an AI-assisted language tool to improve grammar and readability. The authors reviewed and approved all final content.

Example 2: No AI Use

The authors declare that no artificial intelligence tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.

Example 3: Limited Support

AI-assisted tools were used only for language refinement and formatting support. The intellectual content, analysis, and conclusions remain the responsibility of the authors.

AI and Authorship

Artificial intelligence tools cannot be credited as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the integrity, accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance of scholarly work. Authorship is limited to individuals who make substantial intellectual contributions and accept accountability for the manuscript.

Important Note

AI Cannot Be an Author

Only human contributors who meet the journal’s authorship criteria may be listed as authors. AI tools may be acknowledged or disclosed when appropriate, but they cannot hold authorship status.

Editorial Handling of AI Misuse

01

Clarification Request

The editorial team may request clarification if AI use is suspected but not disclosed.

02

Manuscript Revision

Authors may be asked to revise, verify, or correct AI-assisted content.

03

Rejection

Manuscripts may be rejected if AI tools are used to fabricate data, citations, or misleading content.

04

Post-Publication Action

Published articles may be corrected or retracted if serious AI-related misconduct is later confirmed.

Artificial Intelligence Policy Statement

PsyMotion supports responsible, transparent, and ethical use of artificial intelligence tools in scholarly publishing. AI-assisted technologies may support the writing process, but the intellectual contribution, research integrity, ethical responsibility, and final accountability remain entirely with the authors.
